Meadow はこう言ってます。

  "insert-before-markers is a built-in function.
Insert strings or characters at point, relocating markers after the text.
Point and before-insertion-markers move forward so that it ends up
 after the inserted text. Any other markers at the point of insertion
also end up after the text."

よくわかりませんが、訳すと、たぶんこうです。

  文字列/文字を point に挿入。挿入テキストより後ろの markers を
再配置。point と  before-insertion-markers(挿入前マーカー?) は
挿入テキストの後ろで終わるように前進。挿入時にあった他のすべ
ての markers も挿入テキストの後ろに行く。

バッファのマーカー全部をテキストの後ろに移すということらしいですが
ほんとにそんなことしていいんだろうか？ うーん、理解できない。

mometary-display-strings は前に使ったことがあって、けっこう面白いことを
するぞと思ったものですが、一瞬見せるだけなら save-excursion だけで
すむのでは？ ただ、そのあとほんとに挿入しちゃうと、マーカーが狂う、と
いうことなのかなぁ？
